Gefa System has taken an order for Kansanshi In Zambia, regarding burners for an ISA smelting furnace. The order is a new application and demonstrates the possibilities of our unique high-pressure technology for burning liquid fuels. Our technology leads to significant savings and lower emissions.
The Kansanshi mine, the largest copper mine in Africa, is owned and operated by Kansanshi Mining PLC which is 80% owned by a First Quantum subsidiary.
The ISA smelting oven is an upright-cylindrical shaped steel vessel that is lined with refractory bricks. The burner lance is installed vertically in the smelter. This is the first time our high pressure burner lances, Arctic Heat, will be installed in an ISA smelting furnace.
