In August this year, Gefa System received an order for a complete burner system from Palabora Mining Company in South Africa. The burner system will be used in a PS Converter in a copper smelter, something that has become a specialty for Gefa’s burners.
– Our burner system has attracted a lot of interest around the world thanks to the efficient combustion. Our burners create more even heat during refractory dry outs, which means that you can run more cycles on a converter, says Ulf Karlsson, CEO at Gefa System.
Gefa System has previously delivered burners to Kazakhstan, Zambia, Chile and Boliden, among others. The new order from South Africa is further proof of the market’s increased interest in Gefa’s high-pressure combustion technology.
The pressure on smelters and furnaces to reduce emissions are constantly increasing in order to comply with the environmental requirements that are currently placed on the industry.
– Our burners use high-pressure technology and provide smoother and higher heat and generate less smoke. Not only does this reduce emissions, it also increases the life of the converter itself. In addition, we can use our burners with Bio Oils, something that is increasingly in demand.
Growing demand for efficient burners for refractory dry outs
Even though we started with automation solutions for sewage systems in the 80’s, today it is our burner systems that get the most attention and where we see the largest increase.
– The environmental requirements for the industry are constantly increasing, emissions and waste from production need to be reduced. Now we see that more and more players all over the world are working actively to reduce their environmental impact, it is a positive development and we are happy to be a part of it, says CEO Ulf Karlsson.
