In April Gefa System will deliver the Arctic Heat burner to Boliden Rönnskär in northern Sweden. The lead refinery at Rönnskär is a new application for Arctic Heat. The burner has an effect of 1,2 MW and is the third burner delivered to Boliden’s facilities at Rönnskär. The previous burners delivered have been used within PS Converters.
– We have chosen the Arctic Heat burner because it uses high pressure technology. We are looking to reduce energy consumption for both economical and environmental benefits, says Thomas Tjerngren, project manager of the lead refinery project.
Boliden’s primary lead smelter at Rönnskär produced 29k tonnes of lead in 2018. The smelter is also a world leader in electronics recycling.
